6 Reasons Why You Should Get Married In Yorkshire | Yorkshire wedding blog

As you know, The Nuptial is proud to come from Yorkshire, so we could be accused of bias when we say that Yorkshire is the best place in the world to get married. But our devotion isn’t entirely unfounded. As the biggest county in England, Yorkshire is chock-full of tradition and history, and from the bustling urban landscape of Sheffield and Leeds, to the unspoilt beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, it truly has something for everyone.

Still not convinced? Then maybe we can persuade you. Here at The Nuptial we thought we would put our love for this county all in one place, so here are 6 reasons why you should get married in Yorkshire.

1. The Scenery
Yorkshire is home to some breathtaking scenery and the beauty is that you don’t have to search too hard to find it; you can be surrounded by rolling hills after only a short drive out of most towns and cities in the county. The brooding Yorkshire Moors have inspired many a writer and even provided the setting for literary classic Wuthering Heights. If getting away from civilisation is your thing, then Yorkshire is the place for you.Reasons to get married in Yorkshire - Yorkshire wedding blogReasons to get married in Yorkshire - Yorkshire wedding blog(Image: Teresa Ghatt Photography)

2. The History
Much can be said about Yorkshire’s rich industrial past. This history is clearly visible in Yorkshire towns and cities today. If it’s a contemporary urban setting that you want for your wedding, then Yorkshire is the perfect choice and as our guide to industrial weddings shows, there is no shortage of suitable locations.

3. The Food
There’s more to food in Yorkshire than the humble Yorkshire pudding.

Yorkshire now boasts the largest number of Michelin Starred restaurants than any other county in England outside of London – Welcome to Yorkshire

There are great restaurants and eateries to be found in Yorkshire and the wealth of culinary talent in our region is one of our best-kept secrets. The rise of street food traders who can cater for large events means that more than ever before brides and grooms are spoilt for choice when it comes to catering for their big day.

4. The Culture
Yorkshire has a vast array of museums, theatres and art galleries to cater for a number of tastes. Over the years Yorkshire has produced more than its fair share of artists, actors and musicians. Sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, artist David Hockney, actor Patrick Stewart and bands Pulp and the Kaiser Chiefs all hail from here and are proud of their Yorkshire roots. Many of Yorkshire’s museums and galleries can be hired out for special events, so if fine dining and fine art are your thing, then Yorkshire is the place for you.Reasons to get married in Yorkshire - Yorkshire wedding blog Reasons to get married in Yorkshire - Yorkshire wedding blog

5. The Coast
Yorkshire boasts miles of stunning coastline. From Staithes in the North, down to the Humber Estuary, it’s a place of many contrasts. There are quiet fishing villages, bustling tourist traps and rugged walks all waiting to be discovered.

6. The People
It’s well documented that Yorkshire folk are a friendly bunch. Our cheerful disposition is legendary. It’s no wonder that Harrogate was voted the happiest place to live in England 3 years in a row! A smiling face and a helping hand are always welcome, especially when you’re planning a wedding. So what are you waiting for? Come on over and say ‘hi!’.Reasons to get married in Yorkshire - Yorkshire wedding blogReasons to get married in Yorkshire - Yorkshire wedding blog
