There’s something very special about sharing real weddings with our readers and today’s wedding is no exception. Our gorgeous couple Katie and Chris held their September wedding in the picturesque market town of Beverley, East Yorkshire. With the ceremony in Beverley Minster and the reception in the grounds of Katie’s parents’ home, theirs was a truly intimate yet stunning wedding.

Katie’s dress was from Deborah Moore Bridalwear in Hessle, East Yorkshire. She chose the ‘Penny’ gown by Maggie Sottero, ‘I wanted something simple without any beading or bling. I felt the skirt of this dress really did the talking and had the wow factor.’ She teamed her dress with a pair of Rachel Simpson Shoes and rose gold feather earrings by Pandora.
The groom’s and ushers’ suits were from Whitfield & Ward.
The couple had their ceremony at Beverley Minster and their reception at Katie’s parents’ home.
Katie: The wedding was held at my parents’ home which meant it was more personal to us, especially as my sister had also held her wedding there the year before. We opted for a yurt as a break from a traditional marquee, which gave us more creative freedom to make our wedding really unique to us as a couple. I especially loved my wedding cake dresser.
I didn’t really have a colour theme as I prefer mismatching all the way. If anything my theme was foliage and greenery. I wanted the yurts to feel like an indoor secret garden with semi wild looking foliage and flowers, nothing too neat and put together. The foliage chandelier and floral arch were an absolute dream come true, I got quite emotional when I saw them for the first time.
The Nup: What was your favourite part of the day?
Katie: There were so many to choose from! I would say my first wander into the decorated yurt, which brought tears to my eyes. Also, the fun factor which was nominated carvers putting on their aprons and carving the meat for the other guests. I loved listening to Ellen’s beautiful singing and our first dance to Toto – Africa complete with smoke machine.
Katie: Special mention has to go to Yorkshire Yurts for being so friendly and hard working and No8 York for attentiveness and attention to detail. The food was delicious!! When they provided a fancy presentation box containing carving knives for our nominated guests to carve the meat, we were all absolutely loving it.
Also, to Charlotte Miller for on the day co-ordination and going above and beyond/feeding me yogurt and mango when the wedding nerves were stopping me from functioning.
Finally, Ellen Brooman for singing all my favourite songs so beautifully and for making the ambience even more perfect.
Thank you Katie and Chris for sharing your day with us.
