Today’s gorgeous images are courtesy of another Yorkshire engagement shoot. Our lovely couple Abbie and Simon met at work nearly 6 years ago and got engaged whilst on a weekend away. They chose to have their pictures taken in the grounds of Oakwell Hall, West Yorkshire and were photographed by the very talented Stevie from Stevie Jay Photography.
Abbie: Simon proposed on a weekend away in Wilmslow. We were staying at a hotel spa and whilst getting ready to go for a meal he asked me to come into the bathroom. When I opened the door he was down on one knee with a ring in his hand and in the steam of the mirror he had written will you marry me? Of course I said yes – When we got our first house together he would always run me candlelit baths and write messages in the steam on the mirror, so the way he proposed was really personal to us.
As a couple who’ve never had professional pictures taken together, or any pictures for that matter, we couldn’t turn down the opportunity for an engagement photoshoot. Not only would it document a time in our lives before becoming Mr and Mrs, but it also gave us a chance to get to know our photographer Stevie and learn how easy it is to have fun in front of the camera.
We chose to have the shoot at Oakwell Hall as it was a place I spent a lot of time growing up. It’s close to home and the scenery is beautiful, especially for the autumn/winter feel we wanted to achieve from the shoot.
Our favourite thing about the shoot was how fun it was, it wasn’t posed or awkward, Stevie made it relaxed and the images caught our relationship perfectly; funny, happy, silly and totally in love.
