Today we’re sharing the Sheffield wedding of Peter and Emma at Whirlowbrook Hall, South Yorkshire. After dating for 7 years Peter surprised Emma with a proposal on a weekend away in Durham when he got down on one knee and popped the question. Luckily she said yes! Their wedding took place in March 2017 and was captured by Lara from Lara Frost Photography. Her images perfectly convey a day that was full of love and laughter.
Emma’s elegant A-line dress was from a selection at Wed2B bridal boutique in Rotherham. Teamed with Kurt Geiger shoes and a partial updo, she looked every inch the blushing bride. However, it wasn’t always clear that her dress would make the cut,
“It wasn’t at all what I had in mind, but I knew as soon as I tried it on that it was The One”
The groom’s blue checked suit was from a selection at Suit Direct.
The ceremony and reception took place at Whirlowbrook Hall, Sheffield. Originally a family manor house built in 1906, it is now one of South Yorkshire’s most prestigious wedding venues, boasting excellent views and spectacular gardens. The couple say,
“It was the perfect size for our numbers. The inside of the hall is lovely there are great original features, like the oak staircase and fireplace, but not too grand or imposing, so that we could put our own stamp on it.”
The bouquets and buttonholes were created by the team at Flourish Florists, Sheffield and they perfectly complimented the grey and purple Fcolour scheme. Sprigs of baby’s breath and lavender on the chairs and tables further complimented the theme.
There were lots of handmade touches at the wedding. Emma’s auntie and cousin made the cake, Emma’s cousin did the bride and the bridesmaid’s hair and the bride’s mother made the jewellery. The placenames were also handmade,
“We ordered some small wooden easels and painted them grey, before adding name cards written out with a chalkboard pen. The seating plan was also a DIY job using an old frame from a charity shop”
The First Dance
When it got to the evening reception, the happy couple had a treat in store for their guests,
“We do ballroom dancing as a hobby and so the pressure was on for our first dance! We did a little bit of a Viennese Waltz and were so relieved to get to the end without making a mess of it – it seemed to go down well with our guests as well! The band then fired up and got everyone dancing on the dancefloor, it was brilliant”
A Leeds based band called, ‘Let It Funk‘ did the honours and brought the house down.
At the end of the evening even the rain couldn’t dampen this couple’s spirits as their photographer took the opportunity to take one last great shot.
