Spotlight on: Tipi Weddings in Yorkshire

Tipi weddings Yorkshire - Papakata. The Nuptial, Yorkhire wedding blogThey’re fun, unique and they’re wildy romantic. Yes, we’re talking about tipis. Over the past few years having your wedding celebrations in a Nordic style tent has become increasingly more popular. A great alternative to the traditional marquee, the unusual and quirky design of a tipi (or teepee) makes them the perfect fit for festival style weddings and we absolutely love them.

Today we shine a spotlight on 3 Yorkshire tipi specialists – two hire experts and one venue – to show you the very best that Yorkshire has to offer.

PapaKåta

Since their launch in 2006, the team at PapaKåta have worked on over 2000 events, so it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about tents. The discovery of their unique tents came from a very specific need:

‘When we started planning our wedding reception, we wanted something different – something extra special. We scoured the country for marquees, but they all looked a bit, well… ordinary. We were after something extraordinary! When we found what we’d been looking for, it changed our lives.’

Based in Sherburn-in-Elmet near York, the company can cater for just about any size and type of event. Not only can the tipis be used individually or joined together,  they also can provide you with a range of furnishings and finishing touches to help make your wedding more unique.

Oaklands

Set in over 200 acres of woodland in East Yorkshire, Oaklands Wedding Venue is a stunning location for a wedding.

As well as having a Shooting Lodge and a Secret Woodland, three Nordic style tipis are included in the venue hire providing guests with even more space to party. Wooden bench seats, fairy lights and bunting all add to the festival feel.Tipi weddings Yorkshire - Oaklands. The Nuptial, Yorkshire wedding blog Tipi weddings Yorkshire - Oaklands. Are you considering wowing your guests with a tipi wedding reception? Here are a few things you might want to consider:

  • What time of year are you getting married? – Yorkshire weather is not known for being sunny and dry all year round!
  • Where are you going to set up the tents?  – You may need to factor in costs for ground/venue hire
  • Additional lighting  – Will your guests be able to see where they’re going in the evening?
  • Additional heating?  – Blankets, fire pits, etc all help to make the tents feel cosy when the temperature drops.
