Shine Wedding Accessories | Yorkshire wedding blog

Meet the Sponsor

Today we’re pleased to introduce you to one of our lovely sponsors; Lorna Parkinson from Shine Accessories. Lorna makes bespoke jewellery and tiaras for brides from her home in West Yorkshire. Eagle-eyed readers of the blog will have seen Lorna’s work before as she provided the hairpiece for one of our brides, Verity last year. Take it away, Lorna…

“I am a jewellery designer with most items made out of beads and wire.  I work from home around my 3 children in my little office I like to call the ‘Shine Hub’. I spent many years working for a high street retailer and saw how many people struggled to find exactly what they were looking for in the accessories department.

I am inspired by fabrics, flowers and nature.  Sometimes I challenge myself when I see people all dressed up and imagine what headdress or necklace I would make to match their outfit – I genuinely never stop working.Wedding and bridal accessories from Yorkshire | The Nuptial

I adore making bespoke items – making a perfect match that people want and can find nowhere else gives me such a tremendous sense of joy and fulfilment. I really delight in adding that little touch that celebrates the uniqueness of your outfit and brings it all together.

For bespoke pieces appointments are essential and I will always try to be flexible. I recommend meeting to discuss requirements so a bride can try things on and get a feel for different types of headdress.  It also helps to have pictures or to see your other accessories to ensure we can match colour and style.

The making process of a bespoke piece is probably quicker than you would imagine but sourcing the products and colour matching can take time.  Often I need to see the items in person. During the process, I send samples, if needed, and photos too because I believe each item should exceed the customer’s expectations. Most of my customers become friends which is fab and it just adds to the fun!

Yorkshire has been my home for over 30 years and I love that you are never too far away from rolling countryside.  It might not offer the most amazing weather, but it offers so much to tourists and visitors alike and is truly an awesome place to get married. I’m proud to call  it home.”
